KATHMANDU, JUN 04 – Two international web hosting companies have recently come forward to help Nepal-based customers in the aftermath of the Great Quake.
Go Daddy, a publicly traded Internet domain registrar, has renewed servers for free, for a year, for all Nepali customers.
“The team here at GoDaddy is concerned about the tragic events in your community and we want to help in any way we can,” wrote the company in an email to one of its customers in Nepal. “You’ve got important things to take care of, so we’re adding an extra year to any of your products and services that are expiring in the next 6 months, at no cost to you. If, for example, you have a hosting plan that’s set to renew on May 25, 2015, it will now renew on May 25, 2016… All you need to do right now is concentrate on recovering,” it reads. Likewise, another company, Digital Ocean, a cloud infrastructure provider, focused on simplifying web infrastructure for software developers, has provided up to $10,000 worth of credit for hosting services for some of its premium customers in Nepal.
