(Please describe where you were and what you were doing when the earthquake hit Nepal on 25 April 2015?)
I was running a program at Grace FM. In fact, I was interviewing a visually impaired guest.
(Please describe your immediate mental and physical reaction, and your response following the quake).
Following the quake, I took my guest outside the building very carefully. My attention and concentration was drawn to help the interviewee.
(What were your most important concerns at that time?)
At that time, the most important concerns were my life and life of my interviewee who was blind. It became my responsibility then to lead him to safety.
(What types of information were you looking for at that time? Did you have access to all the information you needed?)
At that time, I was just concerned with helping my interviewee who was from Kathmandu. I had to help him get back to his home.
(How helpful were news media such as radio, television, newspapers, online news portals, etc in informing you immediately after the quake and the days following it? Please note their strengths as well as weaknesses).
Of course, I could have access to most of the forms of communication. Initially, the media had difficulty to inform the public but later, they became so convenient means of information for the public.
(Please describe how you spent the week following the quake-- what you did, etc.).
For the first 2 days, we spent our time under a tent. Later, we went to different places of Gorkha and Sindhupalchowk to distribute relief materials.
(Any memorable facts or incidents during the week following the quake?)
We went to a village called Sundarpur of Sindhupalchowk. There, we found that every house was destroyed. People told us that we were the first persons to reach there with relief materials. We felt very privileged to be there.
(What are some of the lessons that we should take away from the 25 April 2015 quake in Nepal?)
It is necessary to make people aware of everything related to the quake. This is the duty of media and the government as well. It has been found that people's inability to cope with the quake led some people to death.
