Many news outlets have been affected in the 14 districts in central Nepal, worst hit by the earthquake. These districts include: Okhaldhunga, Sindhuli, Ramechhap, Dolakha, Kavrepalanchok, Sindhupalchok, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur Kathmandu, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Makawanpur, Dhading, and Gorkha.
The map above, based on data from the Media Directory 2072 by the Department of Information, shows that 233 daily newspapers, 1,348 weekly newspapers, 72 radio stations, 20 television stations, 17 online news outlets operate in these districts.
The map does not show data on outlets not registered with the DoI, particularly online news sources. Some radio stations are also missing in the DoI list, such as Radio Rasuwa 102.1 MHz from Rasuwa district.
Many of the directly affected outlets include radio stations. Professional sources have reported that as many as two dozen stations suffered building or equipment damage.
